PREGNANCY + BiRTH

(Note: Currently have availability for two clients with estimated due dates in June or July of 2024) I support all pregnancy outcomes through birth preferences planning, childbirth education, relaxation & grounding techniques, tools for self-advocacy in all environments, and resources + referrals. Typical care includes 2-4 prenatal visits; regular text/email check-ins; live, in-person birth support; and a postpartum follow-up session. Virtual appointments available as public health conditions mandate or for people seeking support from a distance.

POSTPARTUM

(Note: Currently have availability in late May, June, July, or early August 2024) Emotional support + artful reflection, meal preparation, care coordination, baby care education, sitz herb preparation, night feedings, space tidying, and more help the weeks and months following birth feel rested, supported, and informed.

GENDER TRANSiTiON

A different kind of birth. Transition and affirmation look different for everyone, and I am here to nurture joy, comfort, and growth alongside you throughout this process. Let’s create a care plan, build space for pleasure, find comfort in creative expression, navigate changing relationships, build support networks, and get connected to the resources needed to thrive.

ABORTiON

(Note: currently accepting clients) Emotional and educational support rooted in your needs. From logistics to cultivating coping techniques, we will work together to create a plan that keeps you informed of your options + supports your long-term wellness.

I am also a volunteer counselor offering after-abortion emotional support through Exhale’s text line. Need to talk to someone about your or a loved one’s abortion experience? Reach out to Exhale for non-judgmental support.

CARE PLANNiNG

Call it coordination, coaching, or companionship — I’m here to wade through the questions + options alongside you as you navigate the healthcare system and create a cohesive care plan for yourself. We will set goals and create rituals, gather local resources, and practice relaxation + coping techniques as you navigate intersecting care needs and major milestones. (This care planning is appropriate for anyone, and is not specific to pregnancy, gender exploration, or disability experiences.)

Donations allow me to offer my labor in mutual aid networks and on a sliding scale. Thank you for supporting my living expenses and education while I seek transition strategies out of capitalist models of care.

meet BOREALiS

Hello! I am Borealis (Beau/Bo/they/them), a full spectrum care worker and a trans, nonbinary social artist + educator focused on the queer art of care. For more than a decade, I have held space for peer queers and youth, facilitated community-based learning spaces, and navigated the healthcare system for my own chronic conditions. My personal experiences and training alike have lead me to my current role as a care + cultural worker embedded in my community.

Today, my practice is rooted in harm reduction, trauma-informed care, pleasure, and the tenets of reproductive justice. I believe that LGBTQIA2S+ and all people deserve sexual wellness. I believe in abolition, mutual aid, ritual, and the power of plants. I believe that comprehensive education, continuity of care, and conversation are pathways to empowered decision-making. I believe in gentleness. I believe that solidarity is a necessary condition for truly caring relationships. With these commitments in mind, I believe that care can be radical.

I also believe in lifelong + transdisciplinary learning towards collective liberation, and I am in awe of my teachers and co-conspirators. Recent community learning includes:

  • Kentucky Health Justice Network’s practical support trainings (2022 & 2023)
